FAQs

Where can I go for service if I purchase a Ford Protect Premium Maintenance Plan or Ford Protect Extended Service Plan?

Ford Protect Premium Maintenance Plans and Ford Protect Extended Service Plans are honored at any Ford or Lincoln dealer throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

When can I purchase a new Ford Protect Extended Service Plan?

If your Ford is within 41 months of its warranty start date (the date the vehicle was delivered to its original owner) and has less than 41,000 miles, you can purchase a new vehicle plan.

If your Ford is more than 41 months from its warranty start date, or has between 41,000 - 60,000 miles, you can purchase a Used Vehicle plan. In order to purchase a used vehicle plan you also have to have an inspection of the car by a certified technician.

If your Lincoln is within 53 months of its warranty start date (the date the vehicle was delivered to its original owner) and has less than 55,000 miles, you can purchase a new vehicle plan.

If your Lincoln is more than 53 months from its warranty start date, or has between 55,000 - 60,000 miles, you can purchase a Used Vehicle plan. In order to purchase a used vehicle plan you also have to have an inspection of the car by a certified technician.

If your vehicle has 60,001 or more miles, it is not eligible for a Ford Protect Extended Service plan.

When will my extended warranty begin and end?

If you purchase a new vehicle Ford Protect Extended Service plan, your warranty begins from your vehicle’s original in-service date and mileage. This is the date and mileage when a dealer first sold the vehicle as new. Coverage expires at the earlier of the number of months purchased or the number of miles purchased.

For example: Your vehicle’s warranty start date is July 1, 2022 and the odometer reads 10,000 miles. You purchase a 5-Year / 100,000-Mile Premium Care plan on November 1, 2022. Your coverage starts on July 1, 2022 and expires on June 30, 2027 or when your odometer reads 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

If you purchase a used vehicle Ford Protect Extended Service plan, your warranty starts from the date you purchase coverage and the mileage on your odometer when you purchased coverage.

For example: Your vehicle’s warranty start date is July 1, 2022 and your odometer reads 42,000 miles. You purchase a 5-Year / 60,000-Mile PremiumCare plan on May 1, 2024. Your coverage starts on May 1, 2024 and expires on April 30, 2029 or when your odometer reads 102,000 miles, which occurs first.

What is the difference between Ford Protect and Ford ESP?

In late 2016 Ford ESP was rebranded as Ford Protect. Only the name was changed, coverage is the same.

Can I use my FordPass Rewards points to purchase a plan?

Yes! Just check the FordPass Point box at checkout. 200 points = $1, so 42,000 points will give you a $210 credit. You do not earn points for purchasing a plan unless you use a Ford Rewards Visa Card. Points are not refundable once redeemed.

If you’re paying over time, we apply your FordPass Point rewards to the total price and determine your down payment and monthly fee accordingly.
